State of the Art surgery using your own tissue without muscle sacrifice

Dr. Granzow routinely performs DIEP flaps and other forms of muscle sparing breast reconstruction. They represent the latest and most advanced form of breast reconstruction.
The DIEP flap procedure (and the related SIEA flap) use skin and fat from the abdomen, similar to that which would be removed in an abdominoplasty ("tummy tuck") to recreate the look and feel of a natural breast without having to sacrifice the abdominal muscles.
Dr. Granzow does not simply reconstruct a breast lost to cancer, but takes the time to carefully shape and optimize the appearance of both the breast and abdomen for the finest aesthetic result possible.
The goal is a final appearance approximating that of a breast lift and tummy tuck.
The use of microsurgery for muscle sparing breast reconstruction is the latest and most advanced form of breast reconstruction. Dr. Granzow routinely performs these complex procedures in private hospitals here in California and is a member of the largest private group in California that performs muscle sparing breast reconstruction. He is an experienced microsurgeon who performs up to 6 microsurgery flaps per week as part of a Board Certified Plastic Surgery team which averages over 100 DIEP, SIEA and GAP flap procedures per year.

DIEP / SIEA flap

The skin and fat from the abdomen are used to recreate the look and feel of a natural breast. Using the DIEP or SIEA flaps requires no sacrifice of muscle from the abdomen and minimizes later abdominal weakness, bulging or hernia.
